How Jamaica Customs Calculates Duty and GCT
All commercial and personal imports into Jamaica are assessed on the CIF value (Cost of goods + Insurance + Freight shipping cost) converted to Jamaican Dollars (JMD) at the official daily Bank of Jamaica customs exchange rate.
The US$100 De Minimis Exemption
Under current Jamaica Customs regulations, personal importations with an FOB invoice value of US$100 or less enter duty-free and are exempt from standard import duties, GCT, and customs administration fees. If the item's purchase price exceeds US$100, duties apply to the entire CIF amount.
